The last few weeks have been pretty hectic at Corfield Morris. We have been lecturing to groups of potential clients in Yorkshire, working to completely furnish a house in six weeks, and Tim has just been to New York for the weekend to buy an extraordinary set of 27 chairs with a complete provenance back to 1790 when they were originally supplied by the firm of Seddon, Sons & Shackleton.

Whilst in New York Tim could not miss The Gates by Christo now 'flowing' through Central Park. "It was a lovely sunny afternoon and pretty much the entire population of the state seemed to be out admiring The Gates . I have to say that I enjoyed looking at the Seddon chairs rather more. I could not help thinking 'But is it art?' as I strolled through the orange flags and steel portals. No doubt many of you will think me heathen! It did have a Buddhist feel to it, and the more you wandered the bigger it became - orange flags in every direction as far as the eye could see - but why?"

Anyway, if you like some of your art to be a little more practical, have a look at the images on the site this week. There are some really lovely things and some great buys too - and all at less than the $20 million that it apparently cost to sex up Central Park! Please let us know if anything interests you.   

Fairs
March is going to be a busy month in the way of fairs. The Fine Art, Design & Antiques Fair takes place at Olympia in London from March 1st-6th and showcases some of the very best 20th century design alongside more traditional antiques. The following week the old stalwarts of Georgian furniture will be dusting down their longcases and waxing their whatnots for the British Antique Dealers Association (BADA) Fair which is staged at Duke of York Square on the King's Road from 9th-15th March. Meanwhile, what is now widely regarded as the greatest art and antiques fair in the world takes place in Maastricht from 4th-13th March.

We will be attending all three of these fairs so please get in touch if we can be of any assistance in either sourcing specific items or accompanying you through any of the fairs.
