Rare opportunity to buy Royal souvenirs
On 26/27 January, Christie's in London will sell a fascinating collection of Royal furniture, silver and trinkets from the estate of HRH Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester. It is the most extensive dispersal of memorabilia from the collection of a member of the Royal Family since the Duke and Duchess of Windsor house sale at Sotheby's New York in 1998.
Prince Henry was the third son of King George V and Queen Mary and brother of King Edward VIII and King George VI. His younger brother was the tragic Prince John, subject of Steven Poliakoff's moving film 'The Lost Prince'. The objects in the sale give us a wonderful insight into the life of the Royal Family in the early years of the twentieth century. Expect the highly conservative sale estimates to be left far behind; even so there should be something for most pockets. Some examples on our Recommendations page give a taste of the treasures in store.
Corfield Morris will be viewing and attending the auction on behalf of clients. Please do not hesitate to contact us for further advice on this sale.
