Old Master Drawings
With prices for a perfectly good example starting at as little as £500 Old Master Drawings represent one of the most accessible collecting areas in today's art market. Unlike other sectors which are frequently space and budget demanding a fine collection of OMDs can be acquired without breaking the bank or the need for an extension. The artists' simple and stunningly beautiful techniques create a sense of intimacy with the viewer which is hard to beat in any other media. With a good eye bargains can often be found in an area where only a few can make the crucial correct attribution. You will find some good affordable examples on the Recommendations pages.
November auctions
There are a number of high profile sales taking place in London later this month which are complimented by some good offering in the provinces as well. With the rise in activity at Olympia (see below) it will be interesting to see how the November sales fare. Some highlights and possible bargains can be seen on our Recommendations pages.
Olympia
The Winter Olympia closed its doors for another year on Sunday afternoon after a busy week. The opening night saw a far larger crowd than usual who weren't just there for the free drinks - a lot of them were buying as well! There was a real sense that things were picking up with the strong start continuing through the week. Promising signs.
If anything catches your eye please let us know.
