Easton Neston
The most important factor in the £15.5 billion global antique and fine art market is the supply of fresh to the market goods with an impeccable provenance. In the past this supply was diverse and plentiful. Country houses and city mansions were demolished and their collections dispersed. Not so today. Almost all of the last great country house collections are now safely secured in trusts, and the remaining collections that can be said to be "ripe for the picking" can be counted on one hand.
The magnificent house at Easton Neston and its prized contents have been on the radar for some time and later this month over 1500 lots will go under the hammer. This will be a country house sale of impressive quality as well as quantity: portraits by Reynolds and Kneller, silver by Storr and Parker, and furniture attributed to Chippendale and Cobb.
An 18th century account of the house states that the collection would take one a whole summer to study and observe with pleasure. We will be there for four days (13th-16th May), if you'd like to join us let us know.
USA
We have just returned from another trip to the US where we managed to secure some great pieces in the major sales at Christie's and Sotheby's for clients in the UK and in the US. We also took this opportunity to visit prospective clients on the west coast - Los Angeles, Palm Dessert, San Francisco - and have returned with wish lists to be working on over the coming busy period culminating in the fairs at Olympia and Grosvenor House in June (Olympia 9-19th, Grosvenor House 15th-21st).
There is a real scarcity of quality antiques and fine art on the west coast, and a number of people have clearly been poorly advised by their interior designers. It's our job to rectify this situation! Corfield Morris Report

We have selected a variety of items we have come across recently, some to be sold at auction others lurking in dusty warehouses throughout the country. Double click on Recommendations to be taken directly to first page and please call us when you find something you have to have!
