Martyn Downer
Having grown up surrounded by antiques at his father's country saleroom, Martyn went on to become director and head of the Jewellery department at Sotheby's. Here he was closely involved in high-profile sales and exhibitions in London, New York and Geneva. Martyn is a fellow of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain and a freeman of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths. As a leading authority on antique and modern jewellery and silver Martyn can offer invaluable advice to clients of Corfield Morris whether they are buying, selling or seeking to review their existing collections.
Martyn is author of Nelson's Purse, which has been described as a 'truly riveting story, a culminating triumph of assiduous detection and fine scholarship', and is currently writing an account of life inside the court of Queen Victoria, which will be published in late 2006.
